I can now attest that the flotation in the Green is not as good as my old Stohlquist X-tract jacket. Nuff said.

Like it or not, all of us are the result of a sexual act.

How does the float compare to the Astral 300R?

When you are diving, you have time to keep breathing off the reg and unzip the pocket and get the knife. When suddenly caught on a line or in the boat on the river, you need the knife *NOW* (so my training has taught me as have the experiences of others... I have never had to use my knife in an emergency on the river).

Knife placment and stowable Astral throwbag comments with the Green Jacket

I struggled with this too when I had my river shorty on the lash tab on the front of the vest...really annoying...

I have since moved the knife to the right shoulder strap area where there are loops, zip tied the knife to the loops. Can't even tell I have the knife there...way more comfortable.

On a different note, I also have the Astral throwbag that stows in the chest area...nice to have it handy but it makes the vest super bulky in the chest area and since I mostly raft I've had some hard times getting back into a boat due to the chest bulkiness of carring the Astral bag...
