Asking for a little help from the community here, as there is very little local boating population. We have enough water for it to be pretty good, though we aren't likely to see much for big flows this year- No plans for a spring increase in flows out of Fontanelle at this point. Not really a big issue, the wave can
be adjusted for good play, and fantastic front surf at the minimum levels we see through town anyway- the park has air adjustable gates to adjust flow. Problem is, I'm not getting any response from the director of parks and recreation to get someone down to adjust the wave. Repeated calls over last couple (three? Four maybe?) weeks have gotten nowhere. Perhaps if those who might like to come here and play would like to ring his phone a time or 30, we might get somewhere. Feel free to call him up and say you are interested in coming up to visit the kayak park, but that you've heard its not adjusted yet.
I Had the same problem last fall, they dropped the gates around the first of October (on a beautiful day with mid-60's water temps and 70+ air if I recall) and refused to readjust, even though I had been there pretty much every day in September, and planned to paddle consistently at least through October. They stated they couldn't let the river freeze with the gates up. Takes about 30 seconds to drop them, and the river didn't lock up until late Dec, and never freezes through the drop anyway.
