I've been there twice this year. Once pre release when we had great nymphing in the morning and a fantastic hatch in the afternoon.
Once in the run off when we pitched streamers. Good action and bigger fish. I guess it makes sense that the predatory fish are bigger. I have not had the experience of fish being tippet shy. I have had that experience on the San Juan wher I grew up, but not the green. I use the heaviest line I can fit through hook up there. To say the river is heavily fished or monitored is an understatement. That said, maybe that regulation is what keeps it a fantastic fishery. If you need details PM me. It has become a home away from home for my boys and me. I do not know the new insider online track to get the B section camps!
