As you might have already heard today from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Upper Colorado River Endangered Fish Recovery Program, we will not be sending additional releases for endangered fish from Ruedi or Green Mountain reservoirs this year during run-off. Nature seems to be supplying plenty on her own. The official announcement was made today, however, and I have attached the news release.
Meanwhile, those waiting to hear when releases from Green Mountain Dam to the lower Blue River might pick up will have to wait a little longer. The hydro-electric generating unit that tripped off-line prior to last weekend is not ready to be put back into service, yet. I should have another update in a couple of days. Until then, the release to the Lower Blue of about 820 cfs (or there-about) will remain in place. This means the reservoir will continue its rate of fill of close to two-feet a day.
Ruedi Reservoir is also filling. We are maintaining our release of about 340 cfs for the time being.
Please feel free to contact me with any related questions or concerns, or visit us on-line. I should have our main webpage
and the Ruedi Reservoir webpage
updated tomorrow. More information regarding endangered fish of the Colorado River is available at the Recovery Program website
