grade 3 AC separation surgery?

I just picked up a nice little AC separation snowboarding today. Has anybody had any experience with either the surgery or nonsurgery route? Advice? I'm a playboater and class 4/5 river runner.

AC seperation

I went non surgical about 13 years ago. At that time they had this funky sling that clamped my clavical down with a strap between my shoulder and my forearm (90 degree bend at elbow) Six weeks in that thing almost wore out my shoulder, not fun. My shoulder works but it is the worse of my two shoulders. I imagine surgery would get you back to normal faster. Alan
