Gore 4000 trip report

Mike Hagadorn and I headed up to Gore Canyon today for a little high water action. I think one word sums up what we found, BIG!

Applesauce had the usual line but with a huge breaking wave at the bottom.

The best line we saw in Gore was far left. However, it was unrunnable due to a tree. Other lines looked possible but were very burly.

Scissors looked good far right.

Pyrite was one gigantic hole that Mike and I agreed would be nearly impossible to get through without a prolonged surf.

We walked all three of these rapids.

Everything between that and tunnel was good to go.

Tunnel looked possible but we opted out because the rock on river left slopes down right beside the line and the chance of injury looked high without much of a fun factor.

We ran the next rapid river left with no problem.

Mike ran toilet bowl left (the harder line) and I ran right (very straightforward).

Mike ran the usual right then left move at Kirsh while I chose to run left the whole way down. Mike flipped going through a hole towards the bottom on the left and rolled. I flipped in the same hole missed 3 or 4 roles and then took a long painful swim clear through the next rapid.

Mike gathered up my stuff and we proceeded throught the easy stuff.

Hope this helps anyone headed up there.
Be careful and have fun.

That's awesome. Did you take your booty beer? Did Hagadorn get Ice Cream?

Everything is runnable and good to go. We hit it up yesterday too................We walked Pyrite out of respect for our bro who took a swim there two years ago in high water but it was the sickest thing to be had in a creek boat around these here parts. Gore and Tunnel are a hoot. Playboating would be epic if you walked the big shit and just hit the world class waves!

ice cream?

People who buy Ice Cream instead of drinking a booty beer don't deserve to call themselves kayakers.

By no means does ice cream take the place of the booty beer. Ice cream has its own different rules, that are based off of rolling, not swimming. uh..craporadon...Only real kayakers know about ice cream....
