Go to the hardware store and buy the tiny wire cable with two pressure crimps. Drill a small hole where the houseing meets the hinge for the mount, bring the cable around and pressure crimp it. then give yourself a fair amount 1-2 foot of cable length, make a loop and pressure crimp that together. Hook a good caribener on to the end. Mount one sticky on your boat, mount one sticky on your helmet and by the GoPro chest harness. The chest harness is the best, I can see whats going on with the camera. Then I clip my safety cable I just made into any secure place. If a sticky or harness breaks my go pro is always attached with almost an 800 pound test cable line.

I had it mounted on the front of my boat and well the boat took a solo ride and the camera took a direct rock hit and cracked the housing. I paddled another 45 minutes to the take out took the battery and memory card out and put it on the dash with the heater on the whole way home and it came back to life. I paddled with the chest mount for a long time, only started having damage issues when I put it on my helmet, I like the higher point of view but it comes with a cost.

Has any body tried putting the surfboard mount on raft material? I was thinking of a bow mount so I can switch the view, forward to whitewater or backwards at the crew.

Thanks for the leash ideas, my last gopro is at the bottom of the Grand. Gutting Upset - priceless, not getting the shot - lame.
