Good boat for beginners?

Hello everyone,

I posted a week or so ago, but did not really ask this question. My daughter and I are just getting into the sport. She is 110 pounds, and very slim, I am 155 pounds, and not so slim.

Question is what would be good boats for us to learn in? We both took our first lesson last weekend here in Steamboat Springs. We will do the second lesson learning the roll next weekend. We both loved the first time on the water. Barry teamed us up with a great teacher, great guy from England, but I forget his name. We had a really fun first time out. He taught both of us a lot.

Thanks in advance for any and all replies.
We are both really looking forward to learning kayaking, and meeting people to do the town run in Steamboat with.

i don't know what your intened use is for the boats, but knowing how addicting kayaking is, more than likely you or your daughter will pick up surfing sooner or later so i would get something that plays and runs rivers good. check out a couple of these options.

there is a wavesport stubby on the swap. Pretty sought after boat good for learning and small creekers aka your apple of your eye.

Thanks for the info. Always good to hear from people who have experience.
I have a Pyranha inazone 221 that I think will work for both of us. Only picked it up because I thought it was a deal for 200 dollars. Tell me if i was wrong to do this. I do think it might have been a wrong decision. Only because it is kind of hard to get out of if you have to swim. Is the cockpit hole to small for a beginner?

On the bright side when the kid is back up here later this month we will do a roll class together.

Thanks for any and all info,
Jon

Thank you for the reply. Not sure where the kid and I will go with Kayaking, but I am pretty sure we want do learn and do more all summer. Hope the Yampa has good flow most of the summer.
