Glenwood Springs might actually get a whitewater park, finally!!
After nearly six years of work, we are getting close to getting approval for our whitewater park project. Years of hard work have finally paid off...hopefully. The town of Glenwood Springs created an official Whitewater Park Ad Hoc committee, designed to see this project through to the final stages, earlier this year.
Now the time has finally arrived. The committee is going in front of City Council Thursday August 3rd at 7:00 pm, with a finalized design by Nick Turner. We are looking for support in any form possible. Just having numbers at the meeting on thursday will help show public support for the project. If you cannot attend the meeting, you can also send letters of support to
gckparksupport@hotmail.com. If all goes well, and we can get approval from city council, we should be able to construct this winter.
The design consists of a hole-feature and a wave feature located in West Glenwood Springs downstream of the confluence of the Roaring Fork and Colorado Rivers. The feature should have at least 2,000 cfs running through it most of the year. If you want any more information about the design or location, please contact us.
If you want to know how you can get involved to help, please contact us:
