Glenwood/Palisade play parks?

Anything new with the Glenwood or Palisade play parks?

Is the Palisade play park still dead and buried? It sucks how fast it got killed.

Is the Glenwood play park still on track?

supposedly the Palisade park is NOT dead and burried, just scaled down a bit from the original (and apparently pretty fantastic and expensive) plans. New plans call for a series of play waves closer to Riverbend Park in Palisade as opposed to original plans under I-70 at the mouth of DeBeque Canyon...not sure exactly where in the process they are though.

The Price Stubbs whitewater course is dead. The BOR could not get out of the way of themselves and do the right thing on that one. Your federal tax dollars well spent once again.

Palisade is working very hard to build a park in town with the money they raised for Price Stubbs. They are in some critical permitting phases right now and to be honest it could go either way.

I believe the River Restoration whitewater parks group has begun the final stages of planning and is set to begin construction soon. Yes, it is set in stone.

its good they set it in stone, because if they set it in something like paper mache then the river would just take it out!

Glenwood is out to bid, 5 contractors showed up to the prebid meeting. Bids are due on Nov. 5, City Council selects or denies the low bidder on Nov. 15. We are going in front of the Garfield County Commissioners on Nov 12 to ask for an additional $100K and could use support from the public.
Construction window is Dec 1 thru March 15, then the Colorado starts to rise fast!

Can the public support in any way other than attending the meeting?

Grand Junction Free Press - Community News

I found this article on the Palisade Whitewater Park. I really hope this project gets off the ground. I would head over there quite a bit. I have family in the valley. It would also be good year round, warmer temps in Jan and Feb than the front range, and there should be water all the time. I have been following the progress of the project for awhile and I hope the folks who have worked so diligently on this project catch a few breaks to get it going. Good luck.
