Give a Dam

Give a dam

Four dams on the Lower Snake River in the Pacific Northwest are killing salmon.
So many that they soon may be extinct - unless we take action. Removing these
dams and restoring access to spawning grounds is the only way Snake River salmon
will survive extinction in our lifetimes. Tell the Bush Administration to
protect Snake River salmon before it's too late.
Take action now.

Sorry to be negative here but do you really think the Bush admin really cares anything at all about any environmental issues? His background is oil and money and you see where is attention is, oil and money.

That's a vary unfortunate view, gh. It is our duty as citizens to keep our government in line. What's even more unfortunate is that we have given our government so much rope that it can hang us along with itself. The only way to get any action out of our gov't is to speek up!, something that many of us, including myself, seem to have forgotten, or never learned. If you want to change the surface of an ocean, throw a rock in it, and get everyone else to do it too at the same time.

On a side note, I find it interesting how our kayak forum has become quite a political forum. I'm not complaining, though! Just making an observation. Politics will always scare up emotion and conversation.

I know your right and I did get involved. I voted for someone else as the majority of Americans did. I am all for getting behind a cause I just dont want to piss into the wind. I will however be at the polls voting next week and I will be there next November.

i would hope that this forum is political. life is political and our kayaking is dependant on policies. being political is more than just voting. those you are opposed to are out there gaining support. get active.

I am not sure who your post is aimed it. If it was aimed at me then I will reply. I never said I wasnt political or didnt feel strongly about issues. I said do you really believe that Bush cares. It is however a negative, cynical outlook that I should have probably kept to myself but trust me when it comes to voting next November I will be there.

not necessarily aimed at anyone, more like everyone. don't worry i can bush bash with the best. my point is that actions are more important than words. if you don't like whats happening with ref. A (which i think is one of the worst policy proposals for colorado in recent history, next to maybe TABOR) then get out and do something about it. political theorists(aristotle, plato) for thousands of years have argued that a good citizen doesn't just vote he becomes active in the political sphere.
