Getting back in

greeting after being out of white water for 20 yrs. I am looking at getting back into the game. I will be kayaking for pleasure I am not looking for a trick boat or a high speed racer. just something to do the NC and TN white water. do plane to do a Co. River run in the summer. But I will rent one for that. so basically some thing good for class 1 to 3 and flat water. lots of lakes in the area to help keep me in shape.
and suggestions would be awesome.

Go to any of the kayak manufacturer's websites and read up on their boats. I would look for a general river running kayak. Demo the size of the boat best recommended for you and try a couple/few. A lot has happened since the days of the Dancer, or even Piroutte.

Those will work fine for what you have described, but they are older models. I would recommend at least checking out some of the newer technology before committing to one of those. Personally I prefer Pyranha boats and from them I would say check out the Burn and the Nano. Some others to consider would be the Dagger Mamba and Axiom, Wavesport Diesel, Liquid Logic Remix, and Jackson Hero and Fun.

You should be able to find a 5-10 year old model of many of these for minimally more money than the older designs you are looking at.
