With the CRMP at the five year mark, Steve Sullivan -- the Permits Program Manager for the GC river operation -- has put together a summary of lottery-related information that is available at
It shows not only how well the lottery is working overall, but also explains how the remaining Waiting List folks are being dealt with. There also is information on how the number of launches will be increased in the 2012 lottery.
A couple of things caught my eye as I reviewed this data. One is the fact that all launch dates are being claimed initially. Another is the chart on monthly demand, with July and August dates nowhere near as popular overall as the shoulder seasons.
A couple of the notes are worth highlighting.
"At one time all calendar year 2010 launches had been claimed – trips in red are the result either of late cancellations or trips that never showed up to launch at Lees Ferry."
"Actual launch levels are close to predicted levels from March through October, while actual Winter use remains a bit below predicted levels."
Thanks to Steve for putting this together and making it available.
