I would disagree on the difficulty of Barrel. I've only run it a couple times at this level but I don't think its any harder than Kirshbaum. Maybe longer and pushier, but less technical. Its is pushy and you have to paddle, but there are no tough moves.

However, Barrel is really only one rapid (yes I know Life After Death is kinda a rapid) so I would go to Gore instead while its still at this great level. Way more bang for your buck.

Hey Josh,
I don't know if it has been established what level Barrel Springs is at now, but if you have run Barrel at 2000 (Class 5 level according to C&C I think) and Kirschbaum at 1000 - 1200 (typical good levels there), and you think Kirschbaum and Barrel are comparable at those levels, then I think someone played a trick on you and showed you the wrong lines to run in Kirschbaum.

But seriously, in a little boat, I am practically lost in a tumultuous sea at 2000 cfs in Barrel. At 1200, Kirschbaum in Gore Canyon is a fun little scooter ride that I wished lasted longer. Also, I have found sticky holes in Barrel. I have not been trapped in Kirschbaum (yet).

But I do agree with your recommendation, take advantage of Gore Canyon while you can.
See you out there this weekend maybe.
