Gate to Halligan Reservoirs open, who's down?

I was up in Cherokee park on friday and the gate to Halligan was open and it looked like there's enough water coming down the NF Poudre. Anyone down to hit it this week or weekend. I've never run it but i've been interested the past couple seasons. Anyone who has run it before or is just looking for an adventure shoot me a PM or call at 581-5870 -Heath,

That's weak. You gotta *earn* it like we did last week....wish I had a pic of myself and Dave Frank with a superhero slung over his shoulder riding a 200dirtbike outta there. Look somethin like this...

It was probably high side of low last week. The usual avoidable log or two in spots.

I don't know who you are, but riding bikes with kayaks strapped to your backs behind locked gates is not only very dangerous, but highly illegal. The gate usually doesn't open until Memorial day weekend.

Is there any camping near the put in? Or any suggestions on nearby camping?

Ya you can camp there. Never have but seen it done plenty. There's some sites spread out across the area.

Once through the gate, hook a right, go about mile maybe until you climb the first switchback/hill. You'll top out on that hill, the reservoir comes into view and the road hooks back hard left to start the descent to the res.- Good campsite at the top of that hill.
