The October Hole on the St. Vrain in Lyons is probably worth the trip.

C-470 & Santa Fe

The drop and wave is ok at about 200 to 500 cfs. It's a fairly clean and has a lot of bounce. The hole is deep below and out from the haystack. It beats nothing when nothing else is running or Union is too manky. The water quality seems pretty good, although I have noticed a lack of fish, it might just be fished out as it gets heavy use.

It's a good place for beginners to learn to surf. It's easy to front and back surf, Side surfing and spins are a little harder in there due to the pop on the trough of the wave.
