Front Range Paddle-A-Thon-paddling to make a difference!

Come paddle with us to help make a difference in the lives of others. On July 9th at the Clear Creek Whitewater park in Golden, CO, First Descents - A kayak camp for young adults with cancer is holding the 1st annual Paddle-A-Thon. Registration begins at 8am.

Paddle-A-Thon participants will solicit pledges for each lap paddled in the park or a flat fee donation for participation. At the end of the day laps will be tabulated and all the money raised will help more young people participate in the First Descents camps. Prizes will be awarded. -Click here to download pledge form-

The Paddle-A-Thon will not be limited to kayakers either. We would like to encourage anyone with a craft that will float down the creek and the proper safety equipment to join us.

Celebration will follow the event at the Forest Room 5, with tunes from DJ's Brent Toepper and Rick Stohlquist, and beverages from SKA brewery.

More information and sponsorship forms can be picked up at the following locations:
Alpenglow Ski & Paddle
Mountain Miser
Confluence Kayaks
Golden River Sports
REI on E. County Line Road

For more information on First Descents visit www.firstdescents.org where you can make donations online if you are unable to join us on the 9th.

Hope to see you there!

PAT Update

Great news on the paddle-a-thon for participants. Thanks to Stohlquist, Astral, IR, Pyrahna, Wild-Wasser, Alpenglow, Mountain Miser, and a few other honorable folks out there, we will be giving away some great prizes for the participants of the paddle-a-thon.

We will have a Stohlquist Freeplay Dry Top for the person who raises the most money during the course of the event and an Astral Dry Top for the person who paddles the most laps over the course of the day.

There will also be a boatercross through the length of the WW Park with the winner recieving a pair of IR Shorts. The boatercross will begin at 1pm so plan acordingly.

Other judged categories will best costume, most creative craft, and we might just throw in some hole tricks for fun.

Alpenglow will be giving to participants a voucher good for 15% off the purchase of a new kayak, in stock, and donating 5% of the sale price to First Descents.

There will be plenty of other prizes given out throughout the day so be sure to stop by. Registration starts at 8am and we'll be at the park until 6pm...when we wrap up and head to the afterparty DJ'd by Brent & Rick (Can you say ESBE comback tour?) at Forest Room 5 with FREE BEER from SKA Brewery.

See you all there
