Front Range Kayaking

Fellow Kayakers - I am relatively new to the front range and looking to take my brother (from the east coast) on some decent class IV/III runs this weekend. We plan to run the Poudre on Friday. Does anyone have any suggestions for other rivers on the front range that we could run and are at decent flows for Saturday? If anyway wants to join us, let me know. For the Poudre, we'll likely do a few laps on lower narrows and then Upper Mish down to BTO.

If he's from the east coast, lower narrows might be a little intense. You might want to warm up on middle narrows. Be safe out there.

As far as other rivers, good luck. I think the poudre could be about the only thing running. Have you checked gore lately?

The foxton section of the NF south platte will likely run given the hot weather. The boulder garden section up there is good to go down to 260ish and is a lot like east coast creeking. Or if you're willing to go all the way out to the ark plenty there has been running.

If he is comfy on the lower gnarrows then Steven's down will be boring. How about laps of middle & lower gnarrows. Or start at sprts car and see how he goes when you get to the lower put-in. Maybe walk it and get on down to the BTO.

I just did Steven's down at 2 ft for the umpteenth time. Was fun and glad to be back in COLORADO!!!
