Frisco kayak park not happening this year

The Frisco open space planning committee and Town council are putting up some money for a couple features to be built on tenmile creek. We just had a public forum on the issue tonight, and the proposal is for a couple wave/holes at the west end of old main street Frisco, near I-70. Unfortunately, a permit is going to hold up the project until late summer or fall.

I was getting kind of excited that Summit County would actually have a playpark that has water in it by this year's runoff. We'll have to wait for early summer 2006, and keep our fingers crossed that Denver water board gives the go-ahead on releasing enough water to make a Silverthorne park a reality. Then we'll have a couple FREEZING COLD playspots to choose from!

I think it is funny you did not mention the Breck park when referring to Summit County, but rather you (and I would imagine every S.C. boater) has their hopes and dreams focused on Silverthorne. Is it that bad in Breck? I have not heard anything good about it, except when I drive by, it does look pretty. Breck and Blue River have done fairly well with snow pack this season considering years past....IF it keeps snowing, will breck provide some light, or was that park built for its pretty looks by inserting a handful of ledge drops. Claire has it on her list, so I am assuming it was built for the kayaker.

Breks Park Sucks!! It is a 1200 foot run with a few drops. No waves or realy good holes. It sucks. The frisco park/wave looks done but it looks weak. I guess we will see in the spring.
