Free Beer

That's Right free beer!

Where: The Gore Canyon Race and Whitewater Cup
(the US. National Rafting Championships)

When: August 19, 2006

Gore 2006 is looking to be an excellent year. The downriver race will take place the third Saturday in August, as it has for the past 17 years. As everyone who has competed knows, Gore Canyon is one of the premier runs in Colorado, and usually goes off when most other rivers have stopped flowing.

One of the reasons for the continued success of this race is the volunteers who help organize the start, the finish – and everything in between! We are looking for 19 people to help out in the following capacities:

 Start (need 2)
 Finish (need 4)
 Bus loading and parking control (need 4)
 Registration/Results (need 5)
 Expo supervision (need 1)
 Put in access management (need 2)
 Railway Security (need 5)
 Raft Ferry (need 4)
 Camp staff/volunteer support (need 2)

Start line and railway security volunteers should be Class 5 kayakers; Raft Ferry volunteers should be Class 5 boaters.

What’s in it for me?
• Free beer (2 free tickets for Saturday Night)
• Free camping
• Free RAW T-shirt
• Fame
• Glory
• Free beer

Please email me; Sam Fleming at samf523@yahoo.com to sign up for your Free Beer!

For other information check out rapidpulse.net.

Charlie will be looking for the safety team later this summer

Bump

Just a reminder that we still are looking for folks. Now that the water is coming down its time to start thinking this one through.

Kim at CWW is also looking for volunteers so here's a thought, work the race and a shift at the beer tent and drink all night

A sticky will be posted in the next few weeks with all the details including the railraod closures, hiking and ferry points as well as safety team info.

Sam,

What is going to be the story this year with the overly hyper cowboy cops looking to cause a ruckus?

I hope its going to be better controlled with light enforcement...

Well the simple answer is that because of a number of meetings with the BLM and the Union Pacific, we should see a much more reasonable presence this year.

Law enforcement as you know tends to make their own contingency plans. Their biggest concerns this year are to keep people off the tracks again and maintain the surrounding landowners property lines.

We've worked hard to assure them that this is not a threatening group. That being said, if someone does something to attract them, they will be there.

To everyone, be smart, have a good time and there won't be any problems.
