Foxton any fun?

I've never jumped on Foxton at more than 300 or so (I didn't think it was that much fun). Is it significantly better at these levels near 700? I imagine it has to be, but you never know...

Foxton is about 800 cfs right now (according to the USGS gauge at Pine above Elk Creek ). In my opinion that level it is definately more fun than 300 cfs. Bigger holes, bigger waves, more rocks covered, flatwater sections go more quickly, etc. But it still has the same basic character and if you are used to boating class V you may still think it is a bit boring.

I think it is acutally more fun at around 500 or 600. Ran it yesterday at 750ish and the drops are smaller and the moves less technical; it gets a bit washed out at 800. Still plenty of fun then, and so friggin pretty! The hole and wave at the fork with Foxton Road is always good play over 400. You may want to do the boulder garden twice, as it's really the heart and soal of the run.

If you've got nothing better to do, hit it; easy, fast and close!
