Food Storage Barrels

Anyone know where to get hold of large (around 50 gallon) plastic food storage barrels good for multi-day trips? There seem to be tons of 20 gallon barrels out there, but no real big ones. But I know they exist.

Rasta,

Sorry I can't help you with the 50 gal. ones but I know Down River will be getting in some smaller 16 gal. barrels soon.

there are some guys in kansas who scored a whole mess of such barrels and sell them (for pretty cheap if i remember right) to home brewers for use as fermentation vassals. I'll look around for their contact info and post it for you if i can find it.

ebay.

just do a search for '55 plastic barrel', 'plastic drum',ect. make sure you pay attention to buy the open lid kind not the closed/bunghole type.

Rasta, where the hell are you going to use a 55 gallon one? 15 is the size of a 1/2 Barrel keg. Anything bigger than that will be very unwieldy. Also no handles on ones bigger than 15 either. I guess they figure you're going to have a forklift to lift the big ones....

Those 15gs look nice though.
