I been out of boating for several years and just getting back in. I am also introducing my 9 year old daughter to the sport. She has been through 2 pool classes and has the strokes down pretty good and she actually had a flurry of roll attempts in a Jackson 1.5 that were almost successfull before the technique simply dissappeared.
She is a complete water dog and has a wet exit down pat and no fear of being upside down in a boat.
We live pretty close to Boulder Creek and my plan is: As soon as the water goes down some more, put here in under the bridge at 28th and teach here to ferry, eddy in and peel out. I don't plan in being in the boat during this but plan on standing in the water to aid in a wet exit if necessary. I do not plan to go down river with her.
Does anyone else have a younster that is at this stage? I am open for suggestions on this. I must avoid any negative experiences for her or she will be off the sport like a dirty shirt.
