Look for a used boat on Craigslist or buy/sell. Any modern design with in the last 5-8 years will be fine. I personally wouldn't spend more then $500 but every one is different. Get on the water and have fun!

Lots of good info from everyone as you can see.....I do have a Karma and a Villain. I find the Karma more I guess refined but my go-to boat is always my Villain. Someone made a comment about seat position and it can make some big handling changes in any boat you pick so small changes at a time.
Everyone will tell you to try and demo the boat anytime you are able b/4 you purchase...lots of choices out there!!
