Ever wonder how strong a security bar is? or have you ever had one pull out?

We did a bunch of testing of our new security bar set up and I put together a story, some photos, and a video about it.
I also included some info on how it all works on my "BLOG". Cool hunh. I have a blog.

Cool. I'd be interested in seeing something done about locking the fasteners into place (lock-tite or something like that.)

I haven't owned a LL yet so I don't know about any problem with loose fasteners and LL but every other kayak I have owned has required me to undo all of the fasteners, apply lock-tite, and re-install. They all seem to come loose over time and wiggly safety bars make me nervous.

It takes me quite a while to lock-tite my boats myself and I'm cussing the whole time. I don't think a kayaker would ever want to undo any of their grab bars so using one of the strong flavors of lock-tite at the time of manufacture would be fine. Torque them down with a torque wrench with some lock-tite on them and they would never loosen up.

Actually that is exactly what we are doing. We have a slight modification to that process but think that we are going to go just straight loctite in the near future. In the past we have tried some other stuff but we went back to loctite.

Cool, Shane. Thanks for the info. I'll definitely put a check in the "positive" column for that when it comes time to replace my creekboat.
