Gee, talk about out of the pot and into the frying pan. Hearing that the slide has changed makes me feel slightly better about getting stuffed into the right side hole last year.
I never understood why Waterslide doesn't have a higher difficulty rating relative to other drops on there. I've run Escalante at varying water levels and Waterslide never seems like an easy drop. At super low levels the consequence is much lower, but I've vertically pinned (briefly) on the slide itself and still seen people get dumped into the river right hole. At medium flows before the center boof is in, an ill timed boof almost certainly puts you into the right hole and an unpleasant swim is likely. Once the center boof comes in the move seems easier but the consequences of getting too far right or left become mean. I'm a big fan of a competent rope thrower standing on shore.
Something like double drop on the other hand rarely seems to dish out any carnage.
