Less than a mile up Kannah Creek... like probably 1/2 mile. When running, it's very continuous and hard to stop above the barb wire immediately below the trailhead. It's totally worth exploring if you live in the town of Whitewater, CO. Otherwise, you might save your gas money.

If it weren't for about 100 barb wire fences between the trailhead and the Gunnison River, then the rest of Kannah Creek might be a good run three weeks a year.

I've paddled from Buzzard and all the way down Plateau Creek. Lot of barb wire that keeps the upper Plateau Creek section from being one of the better class II+/III- runs in the area.

Fancyplants., I meant no offense and did not doubt you.I know it picks up side creeks along the way. Still 2 is awfully low!

Yeah these runs got forgotten for a reason...I went to run the lower Kannah run they talked about in CRC2 once and just from the Putin looking downriver. a couple hundred yards you could see 2 or 3 fences and a friend said forget it. I didn't 't argue...the upper part is gnarly, they said it has good gradient for a ways below what Cutch mentioned but a shitload of fences...I think I meant Leroux not Robideau.....Leon is up by Vega Reservoir :

Pros : Probably the best run off Grand Mesa

Flowd pretty big sometimes (at least it used to)

High Grade class IV to V cranking (CRC I)
Does n 't run every year

In a state park so pay if no pass

Roads to upper put ins closed or 4wd with creek crossings

Wood, big.time

I 've just seen it low ....definitely gradient and some nice rapids ...picking your way around and portaging too much wood for mort peoples taste....way dangerous high....
