Ecuador Class V near Baeza, Tena

heading down on 1-21. Was there in 2000 as a newbie and ran some cool stuff in a big ass riot hammer.

Was wondering if anyone knows of some solid V goods near Baeza and Tena besides whats in the guidebook?

i was just down there. the book seems pretty comprehensive for tena & baeza areas. we went to baños and paddled a section of the rio pastaza (a seriously dirty river) above town and above the unrunnable looking canyon san martin. it was good class 4+ and 5-, but don't miss the takeout. if the river is at any normal flow this section will probably be too high. talk to the guides at Geotours in baños. they are way cool.
