Ecuador?

Im thinking of spending next winter in Ecuador paddling. I was hoping some folks had some info on work down there. Im wanting to safety kayak, raft guide, instruct, whatever. I would love some info on companies, work avalability, work visas, etc. Some info on the whitewater would be cool as well. Whatever you got I'll take. Im not planning on going for a while. Just day dreaming of warmer weather and whitewater.

a few years ago I rented boats and did a raft trip with Rios Ecuador in Tena. The owner is Gynner Paris (pronounced jen-air if I remember right). These guys were pretty good and they got us out of a sticky situation when the country went unstable and under martial law.

When I was there there was at least one gringo on the staff maybe a couple so I know they were hiring some folks from the states.

The boating was great but the dysentary and AK-47's left a bit to be desired!

Ecuador is sweet! I just got back 3 days ago and got a few trips at a company in Banos. It is actually illegal for non Ecuadorians to work, but do not fret. As with all laws in Ecuador it is not heavily enforced and as long as you are not taking a ton of work away from the locals and do not spend months and months working you should be fine. (And are not being an obnoxious gringo.) I loved it down there, the people are awesome, it is pretty cheap (Peru much cheaper) and despite an earlier post I encountered no large guns or real problems, in fact made it 4 months without a single incident or loss of personal possesions. I never made it to Tena as I am so poor it is not a joke and traveled in Peru. I hear it is amazing, but if you want further details or some contact infor just PM me! BUT GO, YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT

The trip options on this site are sweet. Maybe some of these local companies would be able to help you find the work you are looking to find. Check it out!
