East Paddler coming to CO

I've got a conference in Golden for a week in May and then I'm staying a week between May 19 to 26.

Few questions

Where would some good creeking be happening? I've had some people back here say different areas and one spot that comes to mind is Crested Butte?
Anybody I can hook up with to paddle?
Will it be easy for me to rent a creek boat and paddle if I bring all my other gear?
Looking for some good day hikes to do also?

Thanks for the help in advance. I'm looking forward to hitting some great stuff.

Cheers

Crested Butte creeks should be running and easy to find boaters. Unless it is high, then everyone is too scared. Sean Lee may be there though.
Carbondale area: North Fork Crystal and Yule Creek
Vail area: Cross creek, Gilman Gorge
Durango: Lime, Vallecito, Upper animas, piedra, South Mineral, etc.
Steamboat: Fish, Mad, Elk

you should have options.

Give me a call if you need to hook up with people.

Don't forget the HAIR 'O the BEAR! Bear Creek, that is. 5 minutes.

Plus the Butte might be pretty well still snowed in, unless it starts to get warm around here.

Make sure you post when you get here- I'll be heading to Bear / Clear Creek / Boulder Creek (Source & upper Canyon) most days after work....as will most folks in the Denver area.
