East Coast Summer Time Overnighters

Does anyone have any Beta on East Coast overnighters... New England, West Virginia etc. Just moved from Boulder, looking for East Side Knowledge.

East Coast Overnighter, that is pretty much an oxymoron. That is not to say you couldn't do an overnight on a bunch of different runs, but in most cases there is little point. Runs that are possible to overnight on in the summer: New Gorge, WV; Hudson Gorge, NY; Alagash, ME; a ton up in Canada (Magpie comes to mind).

In general there just isn't enough undeveloped river front property over there to give you an experience comparable to a western overnighter.

JRC where you at?

where do you now live, back east? Plenty of options out in WV. I agree with phf, it not really necessary, but certainly fun and doable.
I head out to WV/Western MD all the time!

Depending on where you are, a trip to the Big South Fork in Tennessee (class III-IV) is a great place for overnight trips.

You can do the Linville Gorge as an overnighter. NC, Tennessee border. One of the best runs in the country and it'd be nice to do it in two days. It's Class V but you can scout/walk every rapid.

Chattooga is a great overnighter too. Can't think of a mandatory overnighter out there, but like it was said, plenty that can be made into overnighters.

NPMB For beta on anything in New England. There may be some overnight ops up in Maine that would be cool.
