little more info

This is what I heard from Avon's mayor today:

This property and access is and always has been private property. Now that construction of the Confluence and Gondola is beginning the owners will close some or all of the property for various times because of safety concerns. Beaver Creek has opened the east lot for boater use. We are trying to finalize the access easement on the south side of the river (pump house) and are working with East-West Partners to keep some access open on the north side. This is the construction access route. Norm Wood, Town Engineer, is making this all happen and should be publishing the results shortly. You can reach him at 748-4045. We are confident that there will be some sort of access but things will be difficult for the next 2 years or so.

Hopefully Norm comes through for us.

Props to the above buzz members for their efforts with TOA, East West and Beaver Creek.

Forgive me if this is stating the obvious, but I think the boating community should be mindful of taking the high road during the course of these negotiations and construction so as not to give anyone who are in our corner reason to reconsider. The above post stating police intervention is not good PR for our cause. Thanks again, SYOTR.

info on wolcott

CDOT was going to demo the old bridge this spring, but water got too high too fast. they are now waiting until later this year per the news release. the earlier news release said the closure would be around 3 days for the demo, which was planned for the first week of may. now we are good to go for boating season. later.
