Drytops

Hey every one
ive been looking at drytops for a while and noticed that cks has a sale going on.
the two ive been looking at are the Nrs Plunge or the Nrs motion soft shell.
Im a newbie so im not sure what im looking at but i need it for spring and fall days and windy days in the summer. So ive been thinking that i need a middle of the road insulation wise.
If not those give any other suggestions but dont go over around 250.
thanks every one
Luke

i have two NRS revolutions. One is almost 4 years old and its sweet, had to replace the neck gasket once, However, I got a second revo this year and its supposedly the same size and it sucks, tighter fit, some how it leaks and doesnt breath well. I also have the soft shell top and its a good idea, but NRS uses a really thin softshell material by the wrists and should be waterproof (why would one use gaskets, unless to keep dry) but the thin material leaks heavily after the durable water reppelant (DWR) wears off.

So, to sum it up..... get something other than NRS. Atleast, for a drytop.

err... sorry fer the odd double post

Check out IR Comp Top

Check out the IR Competition (2006 model) CKS has on sale. . It has a neoprene collar neck, which I find much more comfortable than a latex collar, though not quite as dry. But I only ever get a nominal amount of water leakage after lots of rolls. The wrist gaskets are latex and dry. I use the top with a long sleeve fleece mid weight in the spring/winter, and a long sleeve thin skin under it in the warmer months.

Don't scrimp on your drytop. Shell out the bucks for Kokatat. You won't be sorry.

Buy a real drytop with all gaskets.

Kokatat Gortex Rogue or the Immersion Research X-jacket.. All the others are impostors

I had the plunge. I stay warm in it, but I did get soggy. I returned it for the next generation in NRS the flux. Haven't tried it out yet, but I'm hoping its a little better. Most say the Kokatat is the way to go.

Thanks

I guess Kokatat wins the race
Anybody know where to get one on sale or to get one in general? And which ones do you recommend for playboating in the summer mostly and maybe in the chillier months.
Thanks all
Luke

coloradokayak.com, www.rockcreek.com, moosejaw.com, outdoorplay.com...any of those places. if you are near buena vista check out CKS those guys down there are great; the best time to find drytops on sale is right towards the end of the season when places are getting next years gear in, right now i would be suprised if you found one on sale honestly.
