The time is here to pull out those tops and check/treat those gaskets.
If they need replaced having it done now is better than needing it done at the put in. Or being told that will take a few days to do as the water starts to rise.
Good point captain. If you don't already have some, get seal saver rubber conditioner made by aqua seal. Use it often. Always carry duct tape for the quick fixes. And if you rip a seal during season, you can replace it yourself (it's easy).
