Drytop Gasket Care Question

Question for the gasket experts out there. I know I'm supposed to slather on 303 or the like onto my drytop gaskets to extend their life. I've read this is for UV protection. But my gaskets are totally covered by fabric and don't think they get hit by the sun. Still need the 303?

It's not just for the sun.

CO from car exuast kills your gasket, motor oil in the runoff, sunscreen, bug spray.
Pretty much everything in the world is trying to kill your gaskets from the moment they are made.
Even before they are installed on your top they start to degrade, sorry for the bad news, so the more you 303/silicone NEVER ArmorAll, the longer it will be till I have to replace them for you and don't forget the wrists.

Rinse the gaskets after you use it too.

Ok, 303 it is. What's the purpose of rinsing the gaskets after applying the 303? That's a new one to me. Thanks for the feedback.

I guess I should have written "rinse your gaskets after using in the river and before you 303".
