Dry gear in Costa Rica?

Going to spend a few months mostly rafting, but kayaking as well. Most of these will be done in white water sections near the coast, with occasional runs up to the highlands. Will be from Dec-April. Trying to cut down on weight. Bringing splash pants, but undecided on whether or not I Should bring a dry top? Don't have a shorty, but have plenty of liners and layers. Anyone have any input on these? Spent a lot of time playing in Colorado creeks, so quite used to the cold water.

I'm kind of a wimp when it comes to getting cold. I did not bring a drytop to kayak in Costa Rica, wore only a shorty, and was never cold. I boated in various regions. I also hate getting water in my boat so if I did not own a shorty, I might have taken a drytop simply for keeping water out of my boat.

Instead of trying to "cut down on weight" consider collecting as much gear as possible and taking it with you. Talk to friends and friends of friends, take it down and donate it to locals. The import taxes on new gear in Latin America is painful for most locals and they don't have REI in every mid size town
I took about 50- 75lbs of gear to Ecuador to Abby Dent and it was on of the best feeling ever to know that used gear would get worn out instead of just waisting away in our basements.
