Driving to CO mid-June, where to paddle?
Planning a 2 week solo trip out to CO and hoping for info on runs to look at and places to stay (campsites etc).
Me, class IV+ creeker, run some Class V rapids, walk some. Scouting is a good thing, but I know how to read and run too. Prefer technical bouldery fun creeks over big water, though I've run plenty of big water too. Paddling for about 9 seasons now.
Driving out from Illinois, probably to get to CO June 9th, stay till June 24th. As I'm coming from the East, front range runs would be good starting points.
Is this a good time to drive out for Class IV+ creek runs? I have the luxury of changing my dates.
What runs would you suggest I look at?
Thoughts on a good route to take over 2 weeks to maximize paddling and minimize driving.
Is there much paddling happening at Fibark or is it just lots of spectating?
I have a couple of potential hook-ups, but how is it for showing up at a run or at a bar the night before and joining a group for a run? What is the best way to hook-up for runs?
Do you think OBJ will be running at this time? High or low?
Any good campsites or areas to stay at? Any to avoid? Do sites get full-up on weekends.
Good paddling pubs to meet people?
Any other advice?
