Downriver Race!

The second annual Ogden downriver race hosted by the Ogden City Utah Mountain to Metro Games will be held on September 23, 2006. As other rivers in the nation are drying up this fall, the Ogden River will be raging for the duration of the event because of a recreational release of water. Boaters will do a time trial run solo and the top four paddlers will advance to the Paddle Cross exhibition round. First paddler to cross the finish line wins! Plenty of prizes including:

- $700 Cash
- WRSI Helmets
- Keen Footwear
- ExtraSport PFDs
- PeakUK Drywear
- Paddler Magazine Subscriptions
- Funnel DVDs
- Chronicle of Gnarnia DVDs

Check it out - http://www.eddyflower.com/OgdenRace.aspx

I am not interested in competing, but is the time frame for the release? Does this also mean the play park will be going? I've got to be in the area for work the 20-24th...who knew I could also add paddling on to the trip!

The release is on the Ogden river and will be only a few hours in duration. The play park(s) are on the weber river and will not be running. You're welcome to run the Ogden before or after the race even if you're not competing. Keep an eye on http://www.eddyflower.com/RunDetail.aspx?RunId=306 while you're out here -- anything above 130cfs is still fun. Give me a call if you have any questions.

Sounds like a good way to get that late season creeking fix taken care of.

Anyone planning on making the commute?

Here is the latest on the predicted flows - seems slightly higher than last year.

There is a little bit of talk going on about whether the CO boys are going to be able to compete against the UT locals.

Yo Twitch,

I'm making the commute from Boulder, but I'm flying. I found tickets for $39 each way (southwest), and I have a lot of family and friends to catch up with in Utah.

The Ogden is a great run - I'd compare it to the middle section of Black Rock at 500 cfs. It is a long drive, but for $80 the flight is pretty painless. You could probably hook up with a boat if you're interested in cruising out. If you're interested PM or call me.

NICE WORK TYSON!

Tim and Sam nice work as well! It looks like you both beat Tyson in the time trial but let him sneak by in the finals.

And by the way - Tyson is still a Utah boy at heart - but damn thems Boulder womens is fine, ain't they.
