Surfpimp is correct, the best section which CRC refers to as "Upper Dolores" is the play section near Taylor Creek. This section includes the Stoner Stampede hole which is at the bottom of a long slab containging several playable waves. Unfortunately, the best put-in is tresspassing down to the bridge a couple hundred yards upstream. There is some good play for a couple of miles after the hole, and take out near Stoner. There will most likely be other vehicles parked at both the put-in and tak-out. Downstream from Stoner to the town of Dolores is pretty much a long cold day of avoiding barbed wire fences.
There is one good park-and-play hole right in the town of Dolores, and as the flows go up, the better it is. It does get covered up when the lake gets full, but that will be a while. To get there, turn at the market in town and go across the river. After about a mile, you will see the parking which is directly across the river from a softball field.
