thinking about going to deckers on sunday. anyone know if it's worth the drive from boulder? anyone want to come with? newbie ww paddler, experienced sea kayaker trying to get my ww legs under me before the water starts running high.
Deckers is a fun little 2+ run, the 3+miles above the Chutes are boatable from 75cfs (boney & picking lines) and up.
I wouldn't do the Chutes (Class 3 pour overs) with less than 200cfs, below the Chutes (3miles+/- is dragging with less than 200cfs even then you have to pick lines and bounce rocks 300cfs is better.
the chutes are runnable below 200CFS. you are going to scrap less in the chutes than any other part of the run because of the river's width. it would be a great starter run for you. its been at 150 all week, which is low, but a good level for your first run.
good luck this season.
Enjoy!
