Dealers on Gear Swap page.

What does everybody think of all the deals posting tons of individual ads on the gearswap page lately? I think its great when they post the occasional add notifying everyone of an upcoming sale, but it seems to me that having to wade through 10 or more adds from a given dealer to get to legitimate used gear ads is a bit much. Am I just being curmudgeonly? Is there anything you can do about this Frenchy? Maybe limit everyone to a couple gearswap postings a week? Just opening the topic for discussion.

Most of the shops have a web page right? Allow them one post mentioning an overview of the items and they can put a link to their website where you can view all of it if you so desire? How does that work?

Some websites ask businesses to post in a separate "commercial" forum.

Another vote for a specific category for dealers, I really like seeing these deals here, maybe I'm just a cheapskate?

Sales

I think it's fair. We've always left the sales in the shop or on our own site. Can't tell you how many times I've written down the name MountainBuzz.com for someone looking to sell a boat. It's a user site and it's your Gear Page.

More is better. I just found the boat and deal I was looking for from a dealer post. Keep the deals coming.

I think allowing commercial posts for free undermines the add banners which support this site.

Its a free world. The more selection the better. Its a captalistic society, more inventory usually means cheaper prices. Its not like most dealers are making a killing. You should support them. Most kayakers are cheap bastards, that like stuff for free or cheap, whether it be gear, food or lodging, including myself and my friends. Also its like looking for a car. Its good to check out everything out there, whether its a dealership or private seller. It only helps you try to figure out what something is worth. Take it easy on the dealers, there our friends, not the enemy.

Just to be clear... I do not mind dealers posting. I think something like, "Check out our specials" with a link to thier web site would be awesome.
