Dave: One Great Dude in Stanley

Just wanted to let everyone know that The River Company in Stanley, ID deserves your business.

A few minutes after we put on the Middle Fork, the guy rowing my raft blew his whistle. I paddled up to him and he showed me a broken oar tower fitting. No spare part. Shit! A catastrophic failure and (I thought) trip over!

I called over a commercial guide and he gave me the number for Dave at The River Company. I called him on our satellite phone. Here's what Dave did: He called the raft frame manufacturer in Denver to verify the frame tube diameter, found the correct replacement parts, arranged to have them driven to the put-in where we could pick them up, and, when asked if he wanted my credit card number for payment, said, "give me a call when you get off the river and we'll settle up."

Two hours later we had the parts installed and were back on the water. My trip down the MF was saved.

HUGE KUDOS to Dave who was willing to help some random river dude he doesn't even know without hesitation. It's this kind of thing that makes hanging with river folks great!

This is the kind of above-and-beyond goodwill that cannot be fully repaid. But if you're in ID and are looking to give your business to a rafting company, make a small dent in my debt and look up The River Company.

Tell Dave that Jeff sent you.

Thanks Dave!!!!!
I was on that trip and yes as stated you did go above and beyond to help us out.
We did get pretty lucky to have it break a few hundred yards from the put-in.
