Damon Miller/denver movie 3/1

Dear Friends and Colleagues:

As most of you know, our adorable Damon, about to turn 35, died in a motorcycle accident last August. In his memory, we have set up a fund to build a playground for him in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico in connection with a daycare center, called Casa de los Angeles which Annie's mother is building there for indigent Mexican women and their children. Many of you have already generously contributed to this fund, and for that we are most grateful.

Planning this playground, to be called Parque de Paniman (Waterman in Nepalese) has become a labor of love and a wonderful way of keeping Damon's spirit alive. I would encourage you to visit the website at www.casadelosangeles.org to see the wonderful work of this non profit. We're thrilled to be a part of the wonderful work this organization is doing in San Miguel.

On March 1, as a fundraiser for Parque de Paniman, but more to celebrate Damon's life, we are showing an awe inspiring kayaking film. We want to share with those of you who can join us Damon's wonderful sense of adventure and his enormous respect and awe for the rivers he navigated and places he explored. Please try and come and pass this invitation on to others you think might be interested.

What: The Denver Premier of "Whitewater Gods", a 90 minute, professionally produced sports documentary. The film follows Damon Miller and his boating buddy Russell Kelly on a 6 month kayaking expedition in Peru and Chile where they ran over 40 rivers, many of them first or second descents.

When: Thursday, March 1, 2007, 7:30pm. Doors will open at 6:30. Come have a beer or glass of wine before the show, say hi and look at a map of this epic kayaking expedition and other memorabilia of Damon's life.

Where: The Aurora Fox Theater, 9900 East Colfax, between Elmira and Florence on the south side. Parking in the back and behind the MLK Library just to the west.

How much: $15 advance purchase; $17 at the door. . Please RSVP to Kay, Kent or Annie and we'll have tickets waiting for you at the theater. Checks or cash only. Half of the ticket price will be donated to the Parque de Paniman fund at Casa de los Angeles and is tax deductible.

Hosted by: Kay Miller, Damon's mother
Kent Miller, Damon's father and best friend
Derek Miller, Damon's brother and fellow adventurer
Annie Quathamer, Damon's girlfriend and soulmate

Sounds great. I didn't know Damon, but had the luck of meeting Russell a few times. Last year was rather tragic for the Colorado paddling community.

I will be there for sure... the date/time work out great and I will be sure to shake hands with the family.

Thanks for putting this together.

Bottom line, it's get'n to be spring in a couple months and it's time to get fired up!

This sounds awesome! I really want to go but I have two midterms that night. Will there be any other showings in the area? Thanks.

This is a great vid!

You should try to see it. It is not like most videos you've seen and Damon does a great job working the vid and comentary. Some huge big water runs that most of us will never see. Amazing places and some sik lines. Damon and Russell, what a team!

I was lucky enough to watch this video after we all bombed the NF payette in tribute to DM, it was a special evening, seeing all the friends hanging out on the banks telling crazy stories then being part of 30 people dropping into Jakes blue angel style. It was crazy seeing so many awesome paddlers everywhere in that insanity. Every eddy had one of Damons friend in it for a mile. So cool.
