Dagger Transition

I have a chance to buy a Dagger Transition for $150. It's a couple of yeasr old with the normal scrapes and scratches from use. I'm pretty much a beginning paddler (taken one roll class and found a new appreciation for how much time it takes to get good at it). I'm large at about 200 lbs. I'm looking for a beginner boat to cruise around on in the reservoirs and also when I get decent at my rolls, do some class 2 kind of stuff on the local rivers. I realize it's not going to be great at anything, but as an all around starter boat, how would it rank? I'm not really looking to do playboat stuff, just going down relatively mild river/creeks. Right now, cash is a big deal and I don't have $1000 or more to drop on a hobby I may not like. I figure at $150, I cant go that wrong. So am I wrong?

For a cheap river runner and a boat to learn in, it will be fine.

gets something else, like a diesel or at least a crossfire

Yo ... don't waste the buck and a half. That boat bites and is too small for you anyway. For a little more you can find something else more appropriate for you size and ability. The Transistion stands for transition over to upside down. THink about a Diesel, a Y, or something other than the transition. Heck even a crossfire for that matter. THere was a guy selling a Diesell and everything you need with it for $600 here in Salida.
