Custome Dry box Opinions - to make or not?

I have a older (but in mint condition) 13' NRS Otter. The boat must have been a special run because the inside (tube to tube) measurements are shorter then spec. Tube to tube is about 34".

I'd like to put a dry box in the front bay but would need to have it custome built. I am concidering making it 33"long by 19" deep and 16" tall. This non standard size would allow me to use it in a bay on a bigger boat wih rocket boxes but would allow and would allow it to fit in the odd dimensioned bay of the Otter.

Thoughts on if this a good idea?

i basically did the same thing for my 12'er. i did mine the width of my 12'er but the same tall and deep dimensions as a rocket box (18 deep and 14 tall). it works great on the 12' and then on the 16' it gets a super fatty rocket box next to it and it all sits flush. depending on how you store the rocketbox and where you put the tabs on the drybox if you go 19 wide and 16 tall the rocket box wont sit flush with the box which could be and uncomfortable lump for the passengers and or the bed.

I was planning to use a rocket box sling to compensate for the differences in dimension. The dry box will have hanger tabs. The bigger boat is a 16 foot cat.

Glad to hear someone else has gone this route.
