Crystal Gorge Access

Me and some buddies are heading out to Escalante this weekend and were thinking about trying to hit the crystal gorge on the way there. I'm sure the roads are plowed to at least the beaver pond, but I was curious how far up you could access at this point.
Thanks

Its been a little over a month since I was up there last, but there was a TON of snow in Marble, and I doubt much of it has melted yet. You can drive to the Beaver Pond, but hiking all the way to the put-in would kinda suck (unless you gotta snowmo).

If there is sufficient flow for the gorge (seems kinda unlikely), it would be a BALLSY run cuz I think you'd have 5 foot snowbanks on either side. Maybe stuff an ice axe in your pfd? Post up if you do go check it out.

On another note, I was thinking it would be pretty fun to go ski the drops on Yule Creek. Has anyone ever done that?

You'll be able to get to the put in road. We usually got to deep lake(pond, whatever) and hiked from there. The problem is the hike out. It's scary, like maybe millers will go scary.

I would wait for the snow to melt. J-bo, placek and I had the whole path slide into the inner with J bo barely not going with it just before the cave.

If you do go, have fun on the run as once you get off the shit is gonna be for real. Be safe

Haha, I'm sure the hike out wouldn't be as bad as it was with my broken back last July. Actually, now that I think about it, it would probably be almost impossible to get out and walk around the inner (which is what I was planning on doing)

Yea, I think I was being a little hopeful. We might check it out anyways. Thanks for the info.
