Crystal Conditions

Anyone know how high up the road is driveable? I'm sure you can make it to Marble but what about Crystal Mill? North/South Forks?

You might give Gunnison Road and Bridge a call- ask to speak to Jeff Brekke... He's the foreman for that area and would know what roads are open- and if you ask he might work to get them open sooner than otherwise- he's pretty flexible and very boater-friendly!

yeah im gonna agree with bwest and say wait.

they get a LOT of snow in those parts folks, and its gonna be a while. if, IF, IF the road is open, it will likely be exciting until crystal city. beyond that i guarantee its still closed.

it might be open in another week if this weekends storm isnt too bad, buts going to be at least a week or two.....as well the CB creeks!

The road to Marble should be good. You might have a chance at Crystal Mill. What is it, like 5 miles further to CMF?

the road to marble is paved and is open year round.

to crystal city its another three or five, i dont remember. either way its pretty slow going. its not bad to lizard lake but once you drop into the gorge itself its pretty rocky and slow, and with just a little bit of mud it may just be more fun than anyone can handle........its southern exposure but there are lots of high peaks above it

The road is probably not drivable not that it matters. None of that stuff up there is running. The gauge is many miles downstream and is just reading low elevation snowmelt.
