creeks in crested butt

I wanted to find out more info on the creeks in crested butt area. I really want to know if anything is mandatory in those creeks. I am just getting into creeking and still want to be able to walk somthing if i want.

i wouldn't say anything in the CB creeks is mandatory. class IV boaters should have no problem with the Upper East. start here, then go take a peek at OBJ and see what you think. you can easily walk the whole run. at low water, OBJ isn't really that bad (you might think i'm crazy, but it really boats alot easier than it looks). medium to high water and it's a solid V though. after you see a few boaters run it, you'll probably feel better about it. Daisy's sweet too, but harder to scout - it's more a read and run V- creek (you should scout Big Wood and Rip your Head Off before putting on though).

I'm not sure of the levels, but if everything except the Upper East is more than you want to get into then there are tons of great runs in the Gunnison area. The Taylor river and the bottom run of Lake Fork of the Gunnison both are class IV gems that don't get a lot of notice. Plus there is the Gunny whitewater park and the Ark valley isn't far away. The BV hole was sweet last weekend.

all four (east daisy slate obj) are easy to scout. Someone said that they are easier than they look, that maybe true but they all can have some narly consequences. the lake fork and east are two of my favorite runs anywhere and the park is at a great level (as of the last couple of days).

good luck
