Creeker Topo Challenge

What obscure front range creek still maintains partial virginity and will probably run this year? A couple tidbits, there is a 20+ footer, granite and sandstone gorges and Ed Hansen would have a blast with a chainsaw in this one.

Need another clue, does it flow out of Mt. Evans or Pikes Peak?

I saw a picture of a guy I work with and his sweetheart down by Pikes peak somewhere. They were standing on a wooden platform that overlooked a waterfall (about 20') and the rock in the background was sandstone.

Not Deer Creek. Closer to Pikes Peak than Mt Evans.

Beaver Creek out of skagway reservoir looks to have a huge drainage and lots of gradient. If its not this one does any one know if beaver creek has ever been run?

Beaver Creek was attempted, but the local Fort Carson troops ended up rescuing those boys after a cell phone call "help me mommy!" was intercepted. If anyone out there attempts Beaver Creek, make sure you buy a fishing license for the free search and rescue benefits. Good guess. Getting closer.

hey Tim,
my guess is Tarryall from the road out of lake george to coral access on the so platte below the gnar- gnar the bible refers to it as carryall
also, hear tell of a 20 ft. slide on the headwaters of either lefthand or james crk
I read about the aborted run on beaver creek in PADDLER definetly has a big drainage and gradient
lastly , whats the deal with Fall river i've heard there is a play park somewhere in ESTES PARK and i scouted a nice looking 4-5 right by the entrance to rocky mtn natl. anyone have info

I think Tarryall has been run - it's in some old vid, Paddlemania I think. Maybe they didn't do the whole thing???

Got me thinking - any chance that 11 Mile will run? Damn I love this time of year.

It is further south than Pikes Peak drainage. This creek is quite unique from anything I've seen in Colorado with respect to its geological tour. Not 8 mile. I'm not sure what 8 mile is like but Pikes Peak has great snow this year. One note about Beaver, we've done some serious Topo scouting of this one. If we are reading things right, there is a section in there that drops over 1000 ft per mile - there are two forks. Do your homework and hike on Beaver if you think of running it. As for 11 mile, I love that run at 1000 cfs - good drops, doesn't run big very often.
