Construction on the South Platte
Just FYI for boaters in the Denver area, the South Platte below Chatfield Reservoir between C470 and Bowles is under construction. Here is a picture of the pedestrian bridge at Mineral. The blockage has stopped so much water that the rapid just upriver is completely under standing water. They are working on making the river more narrow (by about 50%) so it won't be a wide and empty river anymore. It's supposed to be a potential $4 million dollar project to go all through that section of the river, but the segment of the river they are working on right now (at Mineral) is supposed to be done within the next month. The orange sign on the dam in the picture says "Stop! Boaters beware. Exit river now." So if/when spring runoff makes it that far in the next month, beware.
